A few days ago two AzSimple users asked me if I could add some new features to the theme. Tiff wanted to use featured images (featured thumbnails) on the blog entries and on featured posts. If you have used AzSimple, you already know that the old version of the theme sets the thumbnails automatically.
The other request came from MrCyber. He asked if it was possible to use a random category for featured posts. The category has to be “randomly selected when the page loads”, he said.
So, I modified the theme and added these two features. Now with AzSimple you can use “Featured Images” and a “Random Featured Posts Category”. You can download the new version from the AzSimple theme’s page.
How to use the new features?
Every time you create a new blog post or modify an old one, you can select a featured image (see the image below) that will show up as a thumbnail on the entries and on featured posts. If you don’t select a featured image, the theme will use as post thumbnail one of the images contained in the post.
For using a random featured posts category you just have to select the checkbox (see the image below) from the AzSimple Options page.
So, try the new version of AzSimple and let me know what you think!
