Finally it’s ready! Today I’m happy to announce my third free wordpress theme. It’s called AzSimple and it’s a plain and simple theme without many graphic effects, shadows or gradients, but yet beautiful. The theme comes with light colors, white, gray, blue and a clean dark footer. It also has an Options Page where you can set your logo, favicon, social network links, advertising, etc. So, let’s take a closer look to AzSimple’s features.
Features
Header:
- WordPress 3.0 custom menu.
- Logo, advertising space (468 x 60) and social network links (Facebook, Twitter) that you can modify from the Options Page.
- Custom Favicon. You can insert the favicon url in the Options Page.
Content:
- Featured posts section with bxSlider (a jQuery content slider). You can choose the featured posts category and the number of posts you want to show in the Options Page.
- Posts shown in Excerpt View.
- Automatic generation of thumbnails (with TimThumb).
Comments:
- Threaded comments and Gravatar support.
Sidebar:
- Right widgetized sidebar.
- Advertising space that you can modify from the Options Page.
Footer:
- About Us space. You can set it in the Options Page.
- Latest Tweets. You can set your Twitter ID and the number of tweets you want to show from the Options Page.
- Newsletter subscription form. You can set your Feedburner ID from the Options Page.
License
AzSimple is released under the GNU General Public License version 3.0. You can use this theme in personal and commercial projects. But please refer to this page if you want to publish it somewhere else. I will also appreciate it very much if you don’t remove my link in the footer.
For bxSlider and jQuery use their licenses. The images used for the AzSimple preview come from Desktopography.net.

I have this theme installed but the header isnt showing properly. I have the lastest wordpress update and have re-installed but its still not showing properly, can you help? My site is http://www.thefitmumlife.com.
You mean the menu in the header? In this case you have to create a custom menu from the WordPress Admin Panel >> Appearance >> Menus.
Up the top where it shows my pages and RSS, facebook and twitter. It isnt showing up as it is supposed to. Right up the very top of the page.
I have also tried adding menus, but it is not showing up on the main page at all.
It looks ok from my computer. Can you make a screenshot?

Try to delete the image from the post and upload it again. Let me know if it works.
Still not showing up the image in featured area. I’ve deleted the image and uploaded a new one. but the template is compatible the latest version of the wordpress, right?. so there’s no problem with the compatibility of the theme. the other using this theme have the same problem.

for deleting the latest tweets and the subscription form, you have to modify the “footer.php” file.

Hello, I would really love to use this theme but after testing it out, I have no idea how to insert images so that they will show up as a featured thumbnail on the entries, and on featured posts.
I’m aware that for most blogs with featured images, there should be a link that says “set featured image” when you post a new entry but this particular theme does not have it.
I would really appreciate it if you can help me with this

Just wanted to let you know that I figured out the featured image posts on the header. But still trying to figure out how to insert the image thumbnail that should come up on each entry preview.

The current version of the theme sets the image thumbnails automatically.
In the next few days I’m going to update the theme and create another version in which you’ll be able to set manually the post image that you want to show as thumbnail. I’ll send you an email as soon as the new version is ready.

No, almost right. I want to display posts from the one category but that category should be randomly selected when the page loads.

I have installed your theme on a 3.4.2 wordpress version and from some reason every time I try to update post or page, I get a blank white page after pressing the update button…
It happens only with your theme, I have tried to reinstall it, and nothing helps.

First of all thanks, your theme is impressive and we are very happy to use it. We just have one problem, and its with the featured image in the “Featured Posts Category” that does not appears, can’t figure why. Its wierd, everything works fine, and the image shows perfectly next to each post, but it does not show properly in the slider. I would be very thanked if you can help me!

This is a problem that another user was having too (with the YAMINTH theme). When you try to open the slider images in another tab of the browser, it gives some error messages.
From a google search I made, it seems that this might be a hosting problem. So, contact your hosting provider first and show them the error messages. Let me know how it goes and if this is really a hosting problem.

I use bxSlider on this theme. You can read the documentation here: http://bxslider.com/options and add the option for auto scrolling in the theme’s “header.php” file.
Just found this theme while searching. I like it’s simplicity a lot but saw there may be bugs in a post above. Have these issues been resolved? If so I would like this theme on a site being planned right now.
